In the last decade alone, Johnny Dangerfield has achieved success in numerous sporting disciplines, chiefly golf and motorsport, and has supported a variety of charitable and other good causes throughout. Scooping several tournament victories at prestigious golf courses such as Bulls Bay Golf Club and the Daniel Island Club, Dangerfield has also competed in high-octane motorsport events including the Annual Discount Auto Parts 200, held in Lakeland, Florida.

At Bulls Bay Golf Club, located in Awendaw, the South Carolina automotive dealership boss picked up a series of tournament wins in 2008, 2015, and 2017. Meanwhile, at Charleston’s Daniel Island Club, Dangerfield and his professional golf partner have now won back-to-back tournaments in both 2017 and 2018. “I’m a particularly passionate golfer,” he explains, “and proud to have scooped back-to-back tournament wins in both the 2017 Fall Hunt and 2018 Spring Chase tournaments at the beautiful Daniel Island Club.”

Away from the golf course, Summerville-based Dangerfield is committed to a number of charitable efforts and good causes, including a close affiliation with Seacoast Church. A keen advocate of the church’s sports ministry, the South Carolina native was recently announced as Seacoast Sports’ most active and trusted supporter by the organization’s director Wes Koch. “There’s no way we could do what we do [at Seacoast Sports] without Johnny Dangerfield’s help,” he remarked at the time, “and I count him as a blessing from God and someone I can rely on for anything.”

Summerville businessman Johnny Dangerfield reflects on sporting achievements and ties to local church and sports ministry.

A non-denominational church established in Mount Pleasant, Seacoast Church supports a variety of projects and initiatives with further locations in Asheville, Columbia, Conway, Greenville, Irmo, James Island, Johns Island, Manning, McClellanville, North Charleston, Summerville, and West Ashley.

Fast approaching four decades of automotive industry experience, Dangerfield has enjoyed 38 years of success in the business, growing from fresh-faced salesman to founding and running his own highly prosperous dealerships.

From working for Honda, Toyota, Ford, Saturn, Pontiac, and several other automotive brands, Dangerfield established the first of his own ventures–Johnny’s Truck and Auto Center–in Moncks Corner, South Carolina in 1995. Numerous franchise locations and pre-owned lots followed and culminated in the establishment of Summerville’s Automaxx of the Carolinas. Today, Dangerfield and his team are routinely selling upwards of 2,000 vehicles annually. “This year,” he reveals, “Automaxx of the Carolinas was named as the number one South Carolina independent automotive dealership by sales volume.”

“It’s a fantastic accolade and one which is a testament to the continued hard work of the entire team here at Automaxx,” he adds, wrapping up.
